Claude Reid employs more than 40 staff members. These include our Typists, Clerks, PRO’s, Assistants, Receptionists, Refreshments Ladies, Cleaning and Security Staff. The professional members include our Directors, Associates, Professional Assistants or better known as PA’s in the profession.

The company works on a lateral management system and is proud of its stable and long-serving personnel. It is departmentalized to deal with the demands of the specialized field of Law and the present and the future needs of society. It endeavors to train its personnel to the highest levels and standards to cope with the needs of its clients and consequently invests in the latest technology when and where necessary.

John specializes in Land Reform and Community Projects, Conveyancing, Commercial Work and Notarial Work.

He is also admitted as an attorney in Lesotho. John was the President of the Law Society of the Free State from 1996 to 1999, and serves on the Law Society of South Africa.

Helgard studied at the University of the Orange Free State and was admitted to the Bar in 1991 as an attorney.

Thami Xaba

Thami graduated with his LL.B from the University of South Africa and was admitted as an attorney in 2017 and appointed as director in 2018.

Thami currently Heads the Dispute Resolution department of the firm for the Magistrates Court, High Court and Supreme Court of Appeal and specializes in areas of Contracts, specific areas of Company law, Delicts and Commercial Recoveries.

He is an Accredited Commercial Mediator and also an Accredited Mediator in terms of the Court-Annexed Mediation Rules.

1981 obtained the B.Proc degree at the University of the Free State

The following prizes of merit received upon completion of B.Proc degree:

Natal Building Society price for the best student in Conveyancing and Notarial Practice.
The Law Society of the Free State prize for the best candidate attorney in his second year at the Law Faculty of the University of the Free State.

Admitted as an Attorney and Conveyancer at the High Court Bloemfontein on the 29th April 1982 and as Notary Public on the 2nd June 1983 whereafter he commenced practice in, inter alia, Criminal Law, Bank Collections, High Court matters and Conveyancing.

Over the past twenty five years concentrated mainly on Law of Contract, Commercial Law, Property Law and Administration of Estates.

Funeka Diba

Funeka is a professional assistant practising in the litigation department of the firm.

Her areas of expertise are debt collection, family law related litigation and general litigation in both the High Court and Magistrate’s Court.

Funeka started her career at Claude Reid in 2018 as a Candidate Attorney. She was thereafter admitted as an Attorney in 2020 and appointed as a professional assistant.
